the 'humidity' sensibility


Humidity Gallery is located in one of the hottest and most humid spots in North America. Whether you thrive in the climate or simply endure it is a defining characteristic for those of us who live here.

Looking for a regional identifying trait for which to name their new craft/art gallery, the owners hit upon 'Humidity Gallery' as the perfect name. For it is the warm, damp air that defines our otherwise diverse region. And this is especially true in our hometown of Tallahassee, Florida where the Gulf coast's famous humidity seems to collect.
 
We feel that all of our artists, whatever their feelings are about the heat and humidity, take some sense of this humid region into themselves and express it in their artwork. Sometimes you see this in the subject matter: botanical forms, canopied red clay roads, the lightness of the clothing can tolerate wearing.  In some you can sense an attitude of quiet strength and endurance, in others joy and playfulness and sometimes a unique mixture of it all!

Located in NE Tallahassee,  Humidity Gallery's storefront is exhibit space for 100 regional and local artists. Many unique works appear here, from important collectible pieces to small gifts. Our selection of handcrafted art jewelry is the most diverse and interesting in our area. We also display art for the wall as well as many, many craft art categories.

Physical location: 1355 Market Street, in The Verandas Shopping Center, corner of Timberlane Road and Market Street, next to Tasty Pastry Bakery.
